<:Slow But Steady... Fixes The Boat:>posted Sep 18th 2009, 1:20AM

Hello,
Well. We've been on the boat for over two weeks, and there seems like there is still a never ending stream of projects to do and things to fix. The boat is wonderful, but we're having to basically redesign it to fit our needs... fun, eh? I've been trying to get a scanner, so I can put up some of the art I've been working on, but sadly we're just not set up enough to have one operating yet, let alone finding the place to store it. Hopefully I'll get one in another week or two. *Pouts*
Anyhow, I have been getting frustrated by the lack of scanner, and figured that I DO have a working tablet... why don't I just try doing art just in my computer? Now, I should state that I don't DO computer line art. Ever. Period. I suck at getting my lines to look right on the comp, so I end up using it for the more fluid processes of coloring/cging/doodling/etc. So, sitting in front of my laptop, wishing I was working on a comic, but not having enough gumption to ACTUALLY pull out my sketchbook and working on one of my existing comics, I hit upon a brilliant idea.
You see, my life on the boat is... interesting, to say the least. Why not do a comic about it? I mean, it has all the things a comic needs; plucky comic relief (myself, in most cases), a strange and generally chaotic lifestyle (we're on a BOAT), and unique events happening all the time (like waking up to a tortoise staring you down). Not to mention the tortoises... they're like the cute mascot animals! Anyhow, seeing as I suck at line art though, I figured this first page, I'd experiment with doing a slightly different style. Well, I hope everyone like it. Check it out in my gallery. I promise, it'll be the most fun that you can have, without a monkey or screw driver being involved... O_o;
Um... a profile? Whatever should I say about myself? I enjoy being needlessly mysterious and confusing. I love making up words. I love Legacy of Kain, World of Warcraft, and a well written fantasy/sci-fi novel. I draw, paint, do cgi art, do charcoal works, dabble in sculpture, make costumes, and a million other things. I love anime and manga and surprisingly enough I do fan art from time to time. Hehe.
Yes, now that you know nothing of any actual importance, let the festivities commence! Knowing me is one heck of a ride... can you hold on?
Yea, I know. The traveling thing is funny, because my family have been stationary for so long, and now we're finally heading out to sail again. We're currently in Billings, Montana, actually. Workin' our way on a drive over to Maine to grab the new boat.
Hehe, yes, keep track of my bags. I actually am a bit worried about that, so I am being sure to take almost NOTHING out of the car each night. Heck, I'm not even bothering with bring in bags, just a change of clothes and an electronic or two. I needs my electronics.
Oh, poor harpy. We shall all miss him. But you know, I've been thinking I might have to give him a REALLY nice computer work up.
GRRRR, this connection is FAIL! I wrote out this huge response to your post, but it failed to send. FRITER FRATER *mutter mutter mutter*
Anyhow, our van was so horrendously ugly and old, that I doubt anyone would even think about breaking into it. As it turns out, we made it across the entire country in the van without any major incident, so that's a blessing. We're now on our boat in Maine, arrived on the 1st. We're working like beavers or ants or... well, whatever animals work really, really hard. We have to get all our stuff loaded in, fix it up, change the layout, make storage space, etc. It was a racing boat, so we need to do a lot before it's entirely comfortable to live in.
You were going to PAX right? So are you already up in Seattle or on your way or whatever? I totally want to hear how it goes for ya! Tons of my friends are heading down to Portland, OR, for Kumoricon, so this is quite the convention weekend. Hope you have a blast! Are you on Facebook at all? This internet connection is a tad friendlier towards facebook, so if you are, I'd love to keep in touch with ya through there. And your e-mail is the same name, right?
Now I must finish convincing my father to buy me a cheapy little scanner out here, so I can get to work loading up all the artwork I've been doing while stuck in the van and late at night on the boat. Hehe, once the folks go to bed at... 9:30pm (we're all working so hard that they have NO energy to stay up late, and they wake up at some ungodly hour, like 6am! O_o, I get to do what I want, mainly, NOT CLEAN! Yeay! Hehe.
